Ratio documentation

Ratio is a project and task portal where people and AI work on the same projects. The team uses boards, sprints and tasks for the day to day, and its assistant —Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another one— works in the same place, with the same permissions, and every change is recorded.

How it is organized

Spaces and roles

Everything lives in a space. Each account has its personal space and can join others by invitation. What is in a space is seen only by the people in it, and each person has one of three roles there:

RoleWhat it can do
ReaderSee and comment.
MemberAlso create, edit and move tasks, sprints, checklists, dependencies and diagrams.
OwnerEverything, including deleting and managing the space.

Projects, modules and sprints

A space has projects. Inside a project, tasks can be grouped into modules and planned in sprints with a start and an end date. Several sprints can run at once. A task without a sprint is in the backlog. When a sprint closes, whatever is still open moves to another sprint, to the backlog or is marked done: it is never lost.

Tasks

Each task has a status —pending, in progress, blocked or done—, a type (each space defines its own, such as bug, improvement or idea), assignees, a due date and a markdown description. Blocking a task requires a reason. It can also have:

Tasks are shown as a board, as a list or grouped by status. A project's activity is shown as a list or as a calendar.

Activity and alerts

Each project keeps who did what and when. On opening it, a summary shows what changed since the last visit. Alerts arrive in the portal and as push notifications, in the browser or on the phone. On the Pro plan, also to Slack or any webhook (Zapier, Make, n8n).

People and AI

Each person connects their assistant once. From then on, the AI looks up, creates and updates tasks on that person's behalf:

There are two ways to connect: the MCP server, meant for assistants like Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, and the REST API, for scripts and custom integrations. Both do the same and follow the same permissions.
